Western China

China’s western regions may be immensely troubled and often remote, but in many respects, they are a travellers dream.

Incredibly diverse landscapes, cultures and history all mix together to create a region that continues to remain virtually unknown to the outside world.

Our five week trip around Western China was our greatest adventure so far. It was also our toughest, but without doubt, one of our most memorable.

These are some of the places we visited.

China’s far, far North – Kanas Lake National Park, Northern Xinjiang

A Night at Scenic Sayram

China’s Hidden Gem – The Ili Valley

Cycling, well, attempting to cycle, the Karakoram Highway

Larung Gar, Sertar – Discovering Another World

Livin’ it Large at Labrang
